StarWhale Builder (“this site”) is a personal blog. This page explains what information the site collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and when it is deleted.
Effective date: 16 September 2026
1. Who runs this site, and how to reach us
This site is written and operated by one person under the pen name StarWhale. For any privacy question, or to request access to or deletion of your data, use the address given on the contact page. Requests are handled within seven business days of receipt.
2. What is collected
This site has no user registration and never asks visitors for a name or a phone number. Three kinds of data are actually collected.
2-1. When you leave a comment
If you post a comment, the name and email address you enter are stored, along with your IP address and browser user agent at the time of writing. The IP address and user agent are used only for spam filtering. Your email address is never displayed publicly and is not used for anything other than reply notifications.
2-2. Traffic statistics
To see which articles are actually read, the site uses an analytics tool hosted on its own server. No data is handed to a third-party analytics provider. The tool sets no cookies and does not identify visitors individually. What is stored is limited to non-identifying values: the page viewed, screen size, referring path, and an approximate country-level location.
2-3. Server and security logs
The web server and the security plugin retain IP addresses and request records for a limited period in order to block abusive access. These logs are used only for intrusion prevention and fault diagnosis.
3. Cookies and advertising
This site serves advertising through Google AdSense. The following disclosures apply.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this site.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor’s visits to this site and other sites.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. Third-party vendor cookies can be declined in bulk at aboutads.info.
- When you leave a comment, a cookie may be stored in your browser so that your name and email address are pre-filled next time. Blocking cookies in your browser disables only that convenience; reading the site is unaffected.
4. Affiliate link disclosure
Some articles may contain affiliate links. If a purchase is made through such a link, a portion of the sale is paid to the site operator as a commission, at no additional cost to you. Articles containing affiliate links say so in the body text. Receiving a commission does not change how a product is assessed.
5. Third-party processors
The following external services are used to run the site, each within the scope described.
- Google AdSense — serves advertising, using the cookies described in section 3.
- Akismet — classifies comment spam. Comment content, author details and IP address are transmitted for that classification.
- Cloudflare — protects and accelerates delivery. It handles IP addresses while relaying traffic.
Beyond these purposes, personal data is never sold or transferred to any third party.
6. Retention and deletion
- Comments and their associated data are kept for as long as the article remains published, and are deleted on the author’s request.
- Traffic statistics are retained only in a form that cannot identify an individual.
- Server and security logs are deleted automatically after no more than 90 days.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information about you. If you have left a comment, you may also request an export of the data stored with it. Please send your request through the contact page.
8. Children’s data
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14. If we learn that such data has been collected, it is deleted immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
This document is revised when the law changes or when the services the site relies on change. Revisions are recorded on this page together with a new effective date.
